[post_content] => TEOTFW (The End of the F*cking World) follows James and Alyssa, two teenagers living a typical teen experience as they face the fear of upcoming adulthood. But quickly, this somewhat familiar teenage experience takes a more nihilistic turn as James's character exhibits a rapidly forming sociopathy that threatens both of their futures. He harbors violent fantasies and begins to act on them, while Alyssa remains as willfully ignorant for as long as she can, blinded by young love.ย Forsman's story highlights the disdain, fear and existential search that many teenagers fear through a road trip drama.
TEOTFW is a fast-paced graphic novel with a very simplistic art style. I can only say that it is super weird and rough and like nothing I have seen before. James' violent development is quite fun (in a dark way) and Alyssa just doesn't give a f*ck - at least that's the image she wants to portray to the world. It has been adapted as a NETFLIX original show and for once, I actually prefer the screen adaption since they captured the dark humor of the novel very well and the characters are much more detailed in appearance and character development.
