Spookathon TBR

October 12, 2018

Spookathon is right around the corner (Oct. 15th-21st) and I’ve had quite some trouble picking out my TBR for this event since I have saved so many books for this month and I want to read them all! However, I wasn’t completely lost as Spookathon comes with a set of challenges that thankfully guided me to my final list.

I’ll show you guys my TBR according to the title that fits the challenge:

Challenge 1: read a thriller

Book: A stranger in the house by Shari Lapena

Karen and Tom Krupp are happy – they’ve got a lovely home in upstate New York with no kids to interrupt their comfortable life. But when Karen is left with no memory after a car accident, the cops think her memory loss is highly convenient and that she is up to no good.

Goodreads rating: 3.6/5
Page count: 305

book cover of Nevermoor

Challenge 2: read a book with purple on the cover

Book: Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend

Morrigan Crow is doomed to die on her eleventh birthday. But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange man named Jupiter North whisks her away into a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.  Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city’s most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society.

Goodreads rating: 4.4/5
Page count: 374

Challenge 3: read a book not set in this time period

Book: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

In an age of declining births, Offred is a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead. Offred can remember the years before, when she lived with her husband, Luke; when she played with her daughter, when she had a job and access to knowledge. But all of that is gone now…

Goodreads rating: 4.0/5
Page count: 347

Challenge 4: read a book with a spooky word in the title

Book: City of ghosts by Victoria Schwab

Cassidy Blake’s parents are The Inspectres, a (somewhat inept) ghost-hunting team. But Cass herself can REALLY see ghosts. In fact, her best friend, Jacob, just happens to be one. In Scotland, Cass is surrounded by ghosts, not all of them friendly. Then she meets Lara, a girl who can also see the dead.

Goodreads rating: 4.0/5
Page count: 285

Challenge 5: read a book with pictures in it

Book: The Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, would be completely normal if he didn’t live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.

Goodreads rating: 4.1/5
Page count: 307

Total page count I will (attempt to) read: 1618 – I’m not sure if it’s a realistic goal but let’s stay positive!
