September Book Haul

September 30, 2018

October starts tomorrow which means the beginning of an epic Halloween month with spooky reads and dark magic. However, before I dive into my scary (as in scary long) Halloween TBR, here’s a nice little September haul of books I bought/received this month.

Some of these books can be found on my October TBR too, as I am super intrigued by the Three Dark Crowns series and a book like Elizabeth is Missing seems like a perfect mystery for the spooky month. I also have a few book orders that got delayed so they won’t arrive until sometime this week – classic international shipping, what can you do.. I have read a few of the books on this list already but most are still titles I need to get to – check them out below.

Three Dark Crowns

The first book in a series filled with magic and sister rivalry where the throne is the ultimate goal.

Author: Kendare Blake
Category: Fantasy
Anticipation level: 5/5

One Dark Throne

The second book in the popular series of sisters fighting to sit on the throne with their magical powers.

Author: Kendare Blake
Category: Fantasy
Anticipation level: 5/5

The Nightingale

The book takes place during WW2 and depicts the often overlooked stories of women in war  time.

Author: Kristin Hannah
Category: Historical fiction
Anticipation level: 4/5

Carve the Mark

The new duology from Roth that followed the success of Divergent. I didn’t love the writing in Divergent but I’m hoping for the best!

Author: Veronica Roth
Category: Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Anticipation level: 3/5

The Miniaturist

I was intrigued by this book a few years ago but only got my hands on it this month when my mom didn’t like it and gave it to me – hope I’ll enjoy it more than her.

Author: Jessie Burton
Category: Historical fiction
Anticipation level: 3/5

Elizabeth is Missing

No one will believe that her friend is missing but Maud remembers it clearly. The problem? Maud can’t remember anything else. Seems like a perfect October read!

Author: Emma Healey
Category: Mystery
Anticipation level: 4/5

An Enchantment of Ravens

This book has very mixed reviews but I loved it. Another great fall read.

Author: Margaret Rogerson
Category: Fantasy
Anticipation level: Already read

Remus Rising

An action-packed story about a vengeful man who gathers an army of mythical creatures.

Author: Jonathan Williamson
Category: Historical
Anticipation level: already read

Angel and Bavar

A new middle grade spin on Beauty and the Beast with a modern take on magic and friendship  – ARC received by HarperCollins (pub date in 2019). Should be very entertaining!

Author: Amy Wilson
Category: Fantasy
Anticipation level: 5/5

You can find most of these titles on Book Depository and get your own copies! If you have read any of these titles, let me know what you thought of them and/or if you have any recommendations for me (especially Halloween reads) I would love to hear them!
