Gear Up Readathon
Today marks the beginning of the Gear Up Readathon. A mini readathon from the 14th to the 20th of March to get yourself ready for the first year at the magical academy, Orilium.
Below you can watch the creator, G (also known as BookRoast), explain what this mini readathon is all about. Basically, we’re getting ready to start our first year at the academy and finding our place among our peers.
As G explains, you can definitely start the readathon at this stage. If you’re interested in participating in the full experience, you can start with The Novice Path. Last year we went through a journey to finally arrive at Orilium Academy. Throughout The Novice Path there was a new obstacle to overcome (a reading prompt to conquer) at different checkpoints on the road. It was a lot of fun and a great introduction to the world.
Today, however, we are one step closer to entering the academy for real. You need to figure out who your character should be, what guild you’re in and which magical conduit you want. It may sound like a lot at first but G has collected everything – all the information, history, challenges, and printables – in this Orilium Drive folder.
I completely forgot about building my own character last year so I have a few extra reading prompts to catch up to this week. To get an idea of how I play, here is a visual of my character and my TBR for the Gear Up Readathon (with character prompts):
Heritage: Earthling (urban)
Province: Kerador
Guild: Crescent (elemental magic)
Legacy: Animal familiar (wolf)
Conduit: Bow
Urban: a book set in a town
Title: Beartown by Fredrik Backman
Heritage: a book with elemental magic or element in the title
Title: Air Awakens by Elise Kova
Province: an ongoing series
Title: Empire of the Vampire by Jay Kristoff
Province: a book with my familiar
Title: Empire of the Vampire again (it’s 700+ pages, I reckon it’s okay)
Conduit: a book with hunting
Title: Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews
I hope you’ll join the Gear Up Readathon. You can absolutely do the prompts even if you discover the readathon a bit late. We don’t begin the second hafl of the Orilium adventure until April. It’s a great opportunity to get into (or back into) the world of Orilium. If you’re looking for more information you can check out my Orilium TBR from last year. If you’re curious about my Novice Path experience and results, you can also see my Orilium Readathon Results.
Until next time booklions! In the meantime, I’ll be reading as much as possible and filling in even more details about my Orilium character. Byeeee.
